BUFC Seniors bags the 1st CNS Soccer Tournament

December 5, 2010

December 4, 2010, MIC, Camp 7, Baguio City. — BUFC Seniors bags the 1st CNS Soccer Tournament

BUFC Seniors bags the 1st CNS Soccer Tournament squeaking past CNS 4 with a score of 3-1 that was closer than the final score showed. Richard broke the ice in the middle of the 10-minute first half, coming from a bullet pass from Larry from the right flank near the midfield. With a classy one-touch power strike, Richard blasted the ball to the far post with the brilliant Korean goalkeeper unable to react in time.

The game was played at a high pace but the score remained unchanged until the last 3 minutes of the second half where 3 goals were scored in succession. CNS first capitalized on a soft clearance heading from BUFC defender Allain. The striker was quick to the ball and half -volleyed to the far post and left BUFC GK Coach Anton on his feet. BUFC earned a corner kick a minute later. BUFC striker Homer misjudged a ground ball pass to a cutting Richard. The ball went to the goal line and hit the goalkeeper’s knee for unexpected own goal.

BUFC capped the game with Homer receiving a pass just in front of the right post of the opponent’s goal and attracting two Korean defenders. Homer executed a square pass in between the two defenders to the British striker Matt, who controlled the ball and with perfect technique, shot a solid ground ball to the first post, bouncing from the first post and to the second post before squishing into the net, sealing the Championship title for the BUFC.

BUFC eked a 2-1 win in their semi-final game versus Pinsao, which was solidified by BUFC players Arvin, Bampi and Neri. Pictures to follow.

Kudos to all the BUFC players who participated.
